The New Pan African

The New Pan African (formerly “Insurrectionist”) is East Africa’s liberation magazine. We are a community of diverse leftists and radicals interpreting our realities and creating our utopias through various progressive and intersectional lenses. We are an intellectual omnivore for a spectrum of the Pan African left. At our best, this curious and passionate thought drives our practice—and our practice informs our thought. Pan Africans of all persuasions (except the imposters and reactionaries!) are welcome to the fireside.

Our precursor, Insurrectionist, was birthed on International Workers’ Day, May 1, 2021 and officially launched on African Liberation Day, May 25, 2021. It was established by the Collective of Radical Theorists of East Africa, a collective of East African writers, academics, artists, revolutionaries, and organizers. It exists now as The New Pan African for Africa in her entirety—rooted in, but not limited to, the continental motherland.
